Hunter turned around slowly, fully expecting to be caught by police. After such a long journey and all the hard work, things were now over. How could he have been so careless? He got so caught up in what was happening he wasn’t paying attention to his surroundings. He didn’t have time to reach for his gun, so he thought about making a run for it and letting them shoot him in the back, but he was in such shock all he did was stand there.

When Hunter turned around and looked, it was a young woman who looked to be in her early thirties. She had golden blonde hair, beautiful blue eyes, and a dazzlingly bright smile. She was wearing a lab coat but you could still see her amazing figure underneath the unappealing white jacket. He was in shock and didn’t know what to make of it. Then he turned back around to start running when he heard his name.

“Hunter! Is that you? Don’t worry, I’m not here to hurt you or turn you in. Please don’t run. We need to talk.”

“My name isn’t Hunter. I’m just passing through.”

“I’m on your side, Hunter. I know it’s you. Chrissy told me you would be coming up this way. My name is Hailey and I think it would be worth your while if we went somewhere to talk.”

Hunter then pulled out his gun and told her if she tried anything funny, he would kill her where she stood.

“You got five minutes to talk but not here.”

“Follow me, Hunter, I have a secure location not far from here. I am working to shut down the shadow government just like you, only from a different angle.”

Hunter followed Hailey back into the woods, away from the headquarters. He was very suspicious and watched over his shoulder the entire time. After walking for about thirty minutes, they came to a large opening in the face of a mountain that was camouflaged with some trees. Hailey signaled over to Hunter to have him follow her into what Hunter thought might possibly be a trap.

“No, I’m not going to follow you into a trap. If you want to talk to me, you can talk out here.”

“Okay, but I think it will be in your best interest to come and see what I’ve been up to. I have been out here working to bring this down for a long time now. I am going to put an end to the “Bright Futures Project.” The very one you helped create for the last twenty-five years. You see, while you were programming AI for the government, I was working in psyops to influence and change the beliefs of the public in relation to AI. The public was afraid of artificial intelligence being a bad thing and my job was to change the public perception. I was like AI’s public relations specialist.
